Vitamin B12 is made by the microbes in the digestive tract of animals where it is absorbed and deposited into their tissues. When eating meat, fish cheese, milk and eggs we are able to absorb Vitamin B12 through our digestive tract, however this is not always successful due to poor diet, digestion, medical and genetic conditions. B12 deficiency is also the most common and is not always detectable on blood tests. Even when you have low levels, there is no national agreements of what a normal range is. It is therefore down to the doctors' discretion as to whether or not to prescribe these injections. We therefore look to see if you have any trigger symptoms.
