Our Functional Skills English Level 1 online course can be studied in the comfort of your own home. Level 1 English is ideal first step for people who need a Level 2 English qualification as the equivalent to a GCSE pass grade to apply for jobs, access higher education, start an apprenticeship or go to University. Functional Skills English can help you develop the practical skills you need to use English in life, study and work. You’ll develop your English skills and learn how to use them in real-life situations. Functional Skills Level 1 qualification in place of a GCSE. This course is perfect to guide you all the way through your journey in developing your English skills and confidence. You will get: Access to all our online tutorials, activity sheets and fact sheets for 12 months; Email support with a tutor to assist you when you get stuck; Two, one-hour tutorials with a qualified tutor; A marked mock exam with feedback on any areas you need to revise; Awarding organisation registration fees paid; Certification fees paid; One reading and one writing exam that you can take at one of our centres; One Speaking, Listening and Communicating assessment taken at our centre. Prerequisites: Great news! There are no entry requirements for the course. All you need for your learning is access to a computer or tablet and an internet connection. For your exam, you can attend one of our centres, or you can access the exam from home. Equipment requirements: For you to sit a remotely invigilated assessment, you’ll need the following equipment/environment: • Laptop/desktop with webcam and microphone (Microsoft Windows or a Mac, Chromebooks cannot be used) • Wi-Fi connection (Min 1Mbit/s upload | Min 10Mbit/s download) • Smartphone or tablet (Apple iOS 8.0 / Android 4.1 or higher) • Suitable test environment (quiet room with no distractions). Your laptop/desktop will run the assessment software and your smartphone or tablet will be used to record you and the assessment. The assessment itself cannot be sat on a tablet or a mobile phone device. Full payment online is required to be given full course access and assessments.
